We are excited to be able to offer some of our favorites
Having recently tasted through and thoroughly enjoyed the following four wines, we can attest to their current temperament. Happily, they have all reached a wonderful drinking plateau with marvelous presence and freshness. The angularity of youth is gone, replaced by refined equilibrium. With all of these wines, you can pop and pour today but also stash away for continued pleasure down the road.
2017 Sierra Madre Chardonnay
Sierra Madre is located at the very cool and windy western end of the Santa Maria Valley. The SMV has a beautiful light straw color, delicate aromas of blossoms and beeswax and classical flavors of lemon curd and lemon drops leading to a long and balanced finish. This wine is drinking exceptionally well now.
2015 Sanford & Benedict Pinot Noir
Gorgeous in the glass, this wine, composed solely of Clone 115, is both serene and exciting. There are layers of flavor and a panoply of fascinating aromas. From one of the greatest vineyards in the New World, this edition of Sanford & Benedict Pinot Noir stands tall and proud.
2015 Drum Canyon Pinot Noir – Single Barrel Selection
Extraordinary on every level, this barrel of Drum Canyon defied every attempt at blending. Persistent, its stand-alone qualities so evident, we let it tell its singular tale. With a deep ruby color and scents of a maritime forest, we hope you enjoy this wine from the wilds of Santa Barbara.
2014 Quinta del Mar Pinot Noir
This rendition of Pinot Noir grown in the volcanic loam soils of the San Luis Obispo foothills, has a dense compote of sweet fruit girded by a gentle yet firm structure. Whole cluster fermentation takes the potentially fruit forward character to a refined and elegant place. As the wine settles in, aromas of pepper, dark chocolate and floral notes merge with familiar scents of cola and baking spice. The empty glass smells great!
